Sozo African Children’s Choir Monday and Tuesday

Blending Ugandan culture with colorful costumes and dancing, SOZO Children’s Choir will have you celebrating and rejoicing with them in song and dance! Playing authentic Ugandan in-struments and singing Ugandan and English worship songs, the children bring energy and excitement to their show! In it’s 9th year, SOZO Children provides over 120 Ugandan children with shelter, clothing, medical, education and spiritual needs. “SOZO” is the Greek word meaning “to save or rescue from harm and to keep safe.”

Dr. Michael Brown All-star Classical concert Tuesday January 21 Sanctuary 7pm $10
Dr. Michael Brown, world-class trumpet player and former head of the MSU music department, brings together a wonderful assortment of talent for a night of Baroque and Classical music! Sarah Schrader – violinist and soprano, Benjamin Rollings – concert pianist and organist, and lyric baritone Cody Johnson will join Dr. Brown in performing works by Purcell, Bach, Handel, Vierne, Vivaldi and others.

GSUMC welcomes back Monroe Crossing for two 2020 shows after a sold-out inaugural concert last year! This award-winning band from the Twin Cities has been inducted into of the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, won numerous bluegrass music honors, and has played Carnegie Hall, South Korea and almost everywhere in between! With their roots in the traditional Bill Monroe bluegrass style, they have branched out to multiple genres from gospel and country to folk and original music. Be sure to get your tickets early for this extremely talented and entertaining band!
Elvis Remembered - Monday January 27th 7pm Auditorium $15 NOT A SPONSOR EVENT
Elvis Remembered is a live, interactive Elvis tribute show featuring popular Elvis tribute artist, Shane Tucker, along with the Promised Land Band! After playing standing-room only shows at Pensacola’s 2019 Bands on the Beach and at the 2019 National Shrimp Festival, this rocking group kicks off 2020 at the GSUMC auditorium! Featuring a full band, background singers, lights and video, this show is entertaining for all ages!
Snowbird Broadway

The always-popular Snowbird Broadway Revue kicks off 2020 with the Gulf Shores UMC choir singing medleys from Chicago the Musical, The Lion King, Kiss Me Kate and others! Besides Broadway music, there will be a musical tribute to the Beach Boys and The Hollies featuring a live band accompanying the choir. Soloists will include Amelia Fletcher, Marsha Guyer, Cody Johnson, Barbara Shepard, Jimmy Warren and others.

Following his HUGE success this past year collaborating with Director Ken Burns on PBS’ Country Music – a film by Ken Burns, multi-instrumentalist Bobby Horton brings his award-winning band back to Gulf Shores for 2 nights of comedy & music! From their “high school pep rally” skit to their distinctly Southern antics, Three-on-a-string have been mixing comedy and music for over 44 years in a unique style somewhere between The Smothers Brothers and a modern Riders in the Sky! Between Jerry Ryan’s perfect comedic timing, Brad Ryan’s songwriting and performing skills, Andy Mcginniss’ musicianship and Bobby Horton’s musical versatility, they make each concert an entertaining, educational and interactive experience.
