Servant Ministries Statement of Purpose:
Christ-like service is at the heart the GSUMC family of faith and in so many ways our congregation has literally been the hands and feet of Christ.
Weekly, our Bread Ministry reaches out with food and spiritual support to those on the Island. In addition, GSUMC provides both volunteer and financial support for the Christian Service Center, the ecumenical organization providing emergency support. Our members have had the opportunity to build relationships side by side with families through the Volunteers in Missions, Habitat for Humanity, storm recovery, and relief programs.
We seek to be a Christ-like light in our community as we host Blood Drives, Beach Clean-up, Relay for Life, God's Can Do Camps for children effected by storms and Oil Spill Recovery. In quieter ways our congregation enfolds those in our midst who need prayer and concern by the Stephen Ministry and Prayer Shawl Ministry.
As our volunteer/members have fanned out into Ecuador, Haiti, Russia, Baldwin County, and the storm ravaged Gulf Coast, they embody our goal of “meeting physical needs in a spiritual way.”
It is our goal to find a place for every member to be in a ministry suited to their own unique gifts and the office is always open to exploring new ways to serve.
