Stillness... and silence is a scarce commodity in today's world.  It seems that we are constantly bombarded with ever changing electronic media, sounding cell phones, the endless schedules and the demands of busy lives... and for some, I dare say...pausing for quiet time may be intimidating .. or you may feel you just don't have time to STOP!  Yet as the psalmist knew, stillness and silence are needed for greater awareness of God's presence in our lives.  It is a pause that refreshes deeply!

This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship.  It adds depth of meaning to all prayer and facilitates the movement from more active kinds of prayer into a receptive prayer of resting in God.  Centering Prayer emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God and as a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Christ.
